Experience the real-time delivery of a plane with AR technology
What we did
Boeing and Singapore Airlines wanted to commemorate the first delivery of the 787-10 Dreamliner in a way that would create both excitement and lasting memories around the moment. R&R was tasked in creating a first-of-its-kind effect that would be part of the digital and social activation surrounding the occasion.
We debuted the Facebook AR effect during the live broadcast of the delivery ceremony. As the airplane was flown, the effect used real-time streaming data to display the aeronautical telemetry alongside visual progress indicators. The data was showcased through intricate animations, static objects and dynamically positioned character sets.
The AR effect proved successful, becoming the most organically engaged social post Boeing has ever published.
