The challenge was simple: Make Las Vegas the Sports Capital of the World. R&R’s role in the creation of this new universe may surprise you because it’s not the stuff of ad agencies. Yes, we eventually did broadcast spots, but first, we, along with the LVCVA, developed the new sports experience from the ground up because we knew it would bring more visitors — especially during slow periods.
From building relationships, pitching, planning, creating, cajoling, even politicking, to getting VOTES, R&R has been instrumental in bringing major sports to the destination. Early on, we leveraged media dollars to bring in the Las Vegas Bowl and NASCAR. We helped support and develop the startup of the Professional Bull Riders. We developed a citywide campaign to build Allegiant Stadium and bring the Raiders to Las Vegas. And we put together RFPs and successful pitches for the NFL Pro Bowl, the NFL Draft, the Super Bowl, the Final Four, and World Cup.
With our latest efforts, we helped bring F1 to the destination and continue to enhance that event to make it the premier F1 race globally. And we’re intimately involved with bringing Major League Baseball to our city with the Las Vegas A’s.
Negotiations and planning for these events start years in advance, but we never take our eyes off the ball, and we don’t take NO for an answer. We work with tour operators, airlines, trade partners, infrastructure experts, politicians, and basically anyone who will be touched by the success or the burden of hosting the world’s greatest sporting events.
The Greatest Arena on Earth. It sounds grand and audacious. However, it’s a claim we don’t make lightly because it’s much more than a line. It’s a vision we’ve spent years, in partnership with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, to make come true.
